Add up the savings with Battery and Solar
Peter had a problem. His older solar system was malfunctioning.
“An inspection by a Sharpe technician showed that the system was degrading and even had the potential to short out,” the Unley resident says.
“We had two solar arrays and also found out one was now covered in shade and not working properly.”
Sharpe Energy-Hub is finding a recent trend developing where poorly planned and badly installed solar systems are starting to give problems even a few years into their life.
Peter has had a long relationship with Sharpe and was happy to consider the best options for his goals of reducing power bills and living in a more sustainable way.
“Sharpe replaced my old spilt-system with one array of panels that are completely out of the shade and produce as much energy as the old one,” he says.
“I also added a battery as I’m serious about my energy consumption.”
Peter is pleased with the results.
“My autumn power bill this year dropped from $700 to just $100,” he says.
To get the maximum benefit Peter heats and cools his property with a ducted reverse-cycle air-conditioner and got Sharpe to replace all his lights, including exterior floodlights, with LEDs.
“So far I’ve worked out that we are on average 62 per cent self-reliant on power thanks to the new solar array and the battery,” he says.
“It’s fun to monitor the power output each day and see where it is being used.”
