Take the heat out of summer
Keith of Prospect is looking forward to another long hot summer.
“Last January I got my old evaporative air-conditioner replaced just in time for those big heatwaves,” he says.
It was South Australia’s driest summer since 1985 and several high-temperature records were set.
Traditional stone-front bungalows, such as those found in Prospect, can become heat boxes in these conditions but not if the correct cooling system is installed.
Sharpe Energy-Hub analysed Keith’s situation and after detailed discussions a joint decision was made to install a Braemar LCQ 450, the latest-generation model.
“I couldn’t be happier,” says Keith. “It’s efficient, quiet and, most importantly, very cheap to run.”
Low running costs mean a quicker payback on the purchase price.
Unlike reverse-cycle air-conditioners, which recirculate existing air, evaps are constantly replacing the stale air in a building with fresh, cool air.
This is perfect for South Australia’s summer alfresco living as windows are left slightly ajar to help circulate
the air. They also create an allergy-free, asthma-safe environment.
Along with efficiency gains, noise levels have been significantly reduced as the technology has developed.
The latest models produce a constant, quiet and refreshing breeze that could cost as much as 80% less to run than an equivalent-sized ducted reverse-cycle air-conditioner.
Braemar’s Australian designed, world patented system has 20 per cent more cooling capacity and the pads have 25 per cent more surface area, boosting cooling efficiency.
Built for reliability in extreme conditions, Braemar’s durable, non-corrosive outer casing can also be fitted with an ember screen for bushfire-prone areas.
Sharpe Energy-Hub has a range of cooling systems for homeowners and renovators that can be tailored to suit specific needs.
